Number Needed to Treat for net effect (NNTnet): calculation and presentation1

If for the treatment you consider,

the Number Needed to Treat for Benefit (NNTB) equals and

the Number Needed to Treat for Harm (NNTH) equals , then

the Number Needed to Treat for net effect (NNTnet) equals 0, which is the average number of patients who are needed to be treated to see the benefit exceeding the harm by one event.2,3
