The world’s premier respiratory conference for primary care professionals

A world class programme: clinical updates, thought-provoking symposia and the latest research

Internationally acclaimed speakers, the majority of whom are clinicians practising in primary care or community settings, address the topics and issues most relevant to primary care respiratory medicine through a combination of key note addresses, plenary sessions and practical workshops.

A unique opportunity to meet colleagues from around the world:

Broaden your horizons! Attracting delegates from over forty countries, the IPCRG conference is a great forum for meeting like-minded colleagues from low, middle and high income countries.

Real-world science

The conference continues its long tradition of promoting real-world research that includes the patients seen and treated in the community. We welcome all researchers engaged in pragmatic respiratory research including chronic lung disease, tobacco dependence and infection.

Supportive and congenial atmosphere

Renowned for its friendliness, the IPCRG conference provides a unique opportunity to challenge your thinking, exchange ideas, network and build connections that will last a lifetime.

Enviable location within easy reach of all international and UK destinations

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland with its unique combination of heritage, colour, culture and breathtaking beauty is the perfect city for a conference.

First class facilities

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre as a purpose-built, innovative building in the centre of Edinburgh offers all modern facilities (including free wi-fi access and simultaneous translation)

The IPCRG has established a bursary fund to support colleagues to attend its 6th World conference in Edinburgh, April 2012.

The aims are:

  1. To ensure that the range of experience and expertise of conference contributors is as diverse as possible to truly represent a global picture of primary respiratory care.
  2. To offer aspiring researchers and speakers experience of a high quality educational event that, without financial support, they would miss.
  3. To support interested individuals to understand more about the IPCRG and to be motivated to develop, or support the growth of an existing, primary care respiratory group in their own countries.

Each of our member countries have been allocated a sum of money and the amount for Belgium is £900.  We would hope that this money is used to support more than one individual.

Actual money will not be transferred to member countries.  IPCRG will approve budget proposal and then reimburse individual bursary holder in Edinburgh in receipt of paperwork (claim form and original receipts).  Before approving, the IPCRG needs to be satisfied that the individual(s) meet(s) these criteria:

  • Be identified by the national group as having the potential to become more involved in the member group and/or the IPCRG’s activities in the future
  • Have no alternative financial support that could be arranged by them directly (eg recipient of a research grant that requires presentation at conferences) or by the IPCRG
  • Be a clinician with an interest in respiratory care delivered in primary care/community settings [non-clinicians will be eligible if the member country indicates that they are a priority, for strategic and sustainability reasons]
  • Have not received an IPCRG bursary before unless the member country or the IPCRG indicates that they are a priority, for strategic and sustainability reasons
